        SQL Server 2000, 2005, 2008 has this capability

        GRANT { ALL [ PRIVILEGES ] }
        | permission [ ( column [ ,...n ] ) ] [ ,...n ]
        [ ON [ class :: ] securable ] TO principal [ ,...n ]
        [ WITH GRANT OPTION ] [ AS principal ]

        Oracle has similar feature called Column Masking.
